Frequently asked questions
A multi-resolution favicon.ico (16, 32, 48px), PNG icons for modern browsers, an Apple touch icon (180px), Android icons (192 and 512px), and an HTML snippet to paste into your site.
A square image at least 256×256 works best — usually a logo or simple icon. Very detailed images do not read well at tiny sizes.
Different browsers and devices request different sizes and formats. Modern browsers prefer PNGs, older ones and Windows use the .ico, and phones use the touch and Android icons.
Upload the files to your site root and paste the included HTML snippet into the <head> of your pages.
No. It is processed on a secure server and the files are deleted within an hour.
About the Favicon Generator
This tool turns a single image into a complete favicon package — the small icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, and on phone home screens. From one upload it produces every size and format modern sites need, plus the HTML to install them.
Why a favicon needs many files
A favicon is not one image but a set. Browser tabs use small 16 and 32 pixel icons; Windows and older browsers read the traditional .ico file, which itself bundles several sizes; modern browsers prefer crisp PNGs; iPhones and iPads use a 180 pixel Apple touch icon for the home screen; and Android devices use 192 and 512 pixel icons. Providing the right file for each context means your icon looks sharp everywhere instead of blurry or missing. This tool generates all of them at once, so you do not have to resize and export each by hand.
Choosing a source image
Favicons are displayed very small, so simple, bold images work far better than detailed ones. A logo mark, a single letter, or a clean icon reads clearly at 16 pixels; a photograph or intricate graphic turns to mush. Upload a square image at a generous size — 256 by 256 or larger — and the tool scales it down cleanly to each required size, padding to a square on a transparent background if needed so nothing is stretched.
What you receive and how to install it
The download is a ZIP containing favicon.ico, the individual PNG sizes, the Apple and Android icons, and a text file with the exact HTML link tags. Installation is simple: upload the icon files to the root folder of your website, then paste the provided snippet into the head section of your pages. Browsers pick the right icon automatically from there.
