Frequently asked questions

Is this AI upscaling?

No, and it is honest about that: it adjusts brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpness on the pixels you already have. It will not invent new detail or increase real resolution the way an AI super-resolution model claims to.

What does Auto enhance do?

It applies a sensible general-purpose boost — a little more brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpening — that improves many flat or dull photos. Fine-tune the sliders from there.

How does the sharpen control work?

It applies an unsharp-style filter that increases the contrast at edges, making the image look crisper. Push it too far and you will see halos and noise, so a modest amount usually looks best.

Which formats can I save to?

PNG (lossless), JPG (smaller, lossy), or WebP (small and modern). Choose based on whether you need transparency or the smallest file.

Is my image uploaded?

No. All adjustments happen in your browser on a canvas; nothing is sent anywhere.

About the Image Enhancer

This tool improves the look of a photo by adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpness, with a live preview so you can see every change instantly. It is a fast, private way to rescue a flat, dull, or slightly soft image, processed entirely in your browser.

What it actually does

It is worth being clear about what enhancement means here, because the word is often oversold. This tool works with the pixels your image already contains: brightness lifts or lowers overall exposure, contrast widens or narrows the gap between lights and darks, saturation makes colours richer or more muted, and sharpening increases the contrast along edges so the picture reads as crisper. What it does not do — and does not pretend to do — is invent detail or genuinely increase resolution. That is the domain of AI super-resolution, which guesses at new pixels; this is honest, predictable image tuning, the same controls a photo editor gives you, applied live.

Getting good results

The Auto enhance button applies a balanced general boost that flatters many everyday photos; it is a good starting point you can then refine. When sharpening, less is usually more: a modest amount makes an image look noticeably crisper, while too much introduces bright halos around edges and amplifies noise. Saturation behaves similarly — a gentle lift makes colours pop, but pushing it hard looks artificial. Use the live preview to judge the effect at full size rather than guessing from the slider numbers.

Saving and privacy

Export to PNG for a lossless copy, JPG for a smaller lossy file, or WebP for the best size-to-quality ratio. Everything runs on a canvas in your browser, so the image is never uploaded. To then shrink the file for the web, pass it through the Image to WebP Converter or the Image Compressor.
